I used my CHI twice and it has stopped turning on.    This has got to be one of the worst purchases I've ever made. I will never buy another CHI again.

I've had my CHI for about a year and a half, and I only occasionally used it. 2 weeks ago I went to use it and it would not turn on.    The reset button doesn't do crap.    The thing is still so new that the cord still has the folds in it from being in the box, this thing is ridiculous.    I emailed CHI about it a few days ago, and still haven't gotten a response.    I won't be buying another CHI, their customer service sucks, as well as their lousy product that doesn't last.    It seems they figured out their straighteners don't last beyond a year, which it why they cut off the warranty at 1 year.    DON'T BUY CHI!

Angie, My CHI did the exact same thing to me as your daughter. The day before yesterday, I was waiting for mine to get hot and the power cord completely blew leaving a huge fire hole on my wall, by the vanity.I'm thinking about getting with the manufactors and sending pics of the damage!!! Very dangerous!

I wrote on here a couple of months ago.    I have had several Chis.    The first one I purchased 5-6 yrs ago was great and lasted 4 years almost.    Well worth the money.    The 3 subsequent ones I had all lasted less than the warranty period.    Farouk/Chi is TERRIBLE about honoring their warranty and even responding to your inquiries.    Ive emailed several times and receive no response at all.    The last two I had both shorted out in the cords and literally caught fire.

I did find at Sally Beauty last month, a comparable straightener.    It is the GVP digital straightener.    It is $69.99 regular price I believe and almost exaclty like the Chi.    It goes up to 450 degrees and the only difference I n ote is a slightly smaller plate and the grip is not quite as tight, but it still straightens my hair great and I LOVE IT!    Well worth the money and also has a 1 year warranty..might be 2, I cant remember now.    At any rate, $30-60 cheaper than a Chi, SAME thing only better, no problems with it so far and mine last month came with a free mini GVP one ($29.99 value).    So check that our and BOYCOTT CHI!    THEY SUCK!

My mother purchased a Chi flat iron for me probably when I was around the age of 14 or 15. Two summers ago while in California, the product completely stopped working. I had had it roughly three years and had nothing bad to say about it. We did not keep the box or receipt for it, so while on vacation I replaced it with another Chi. It was not like the original "matte" finish it was a plastic-y "girly girl patterned" one. (if that makes sense?) I've had it since August of 09 and I feel as if I can't do half as much as what I could with the original. I used it to curl, straighten, flip. etc.. my hair and the new one just not up to par. I was reading the warranty card and saw that because I've had my Chi over a year it would be replaced for $35? I'm assuming it to be true because it is the actual warranty card. Has anyone replaced theirs after a year? I really do not want to spend the money on the exact same straightener just without the plastic finish and own two of them. Also, did any one else notice a difference in the finish of the straightener when curling your hair? I do hair for weddings and proms and I have noticed it some girl's hair as well. But most importantly - is the $35 legit?

OMG-All these negitive reviews are RIGHT! I have owned 4 CHI's in the last 4 years...every year around the same time they just stop turning on! This one that I have right now...Only since Sept 2010 & its now Jan. 2011...just qiut working after 4 months....Resset button does nothing- and if it happens to actually turn back on & heat up... its only for literally 2 seconds, then off again. Ever notice that many blow dryers(that get used just as much as flat iorns-every day) don't seem to have such electircal issues? Im DONE with CHI!!! Save yourself time & money Don't be bothered with this brand...Or better yet, spend your $100+ on a reliable product!
