I've had my red chi ultra for several years. I brought it back when i first bought it because the light flickered. Come to find out, the LED light is solid until it heats up, and then it flickers, signaling that it's hot and ready to use. Mine just stopped working- the switch won't turn on & off easily, and now just doesn't work. The cord is in great shape so maybe there's an internal fuse that blew, but no way to fix this from what I can tell. After reading comments on poor reliability of newer models, think I'll look for a new brand! Loved it while it worked!

I have always like Chi until my last one. I had it for about nine months when one day I went to plug it in and it shot sparks at me burning my finger. Which was very up set since my dad died in a house fire last October.

So disappointed with my chi flat iron. :( I haven't had it for a year and of course no receipt so no help. My daughter has one as well and it has done the same thing. It seems like there is a problem with the chi irons that isn't being resolved as they keep making them. My iron has a short at the plug and flickers on and off so I had to stop using for fear of it causing a fire. So, so disappointed since I had heard so many good things about Chi but I will never purchase one again.

My present Chi is the fourth Chi I bought. I just now realize that I've been changing my chi every 1 1/2 - 2 years. That doesn't sound very promising, right. Well, this last one I got was only few months old and it died on me. It wouldn't turn on. Good thing I have my receipt. I'll be sending it back to the store I got it from. I believe we shouldn't be charged for shipping and handling expenses for a faulty/defective products. That's a rip-off. Is there any better hair straightener out there?

I love my chi iron but this is my second on and its now broken. The chi irons don't last more then 1 1/2 years and i hate that. For the amount of money i paid for both of these irons it should be lasting longer then this.

Bought my CHI three years ago and felt a little better about the price of it when I found it had a "lifetime" warranty. I am always so careful about not wrapping the cord around it (wears out the cord faster) and I always take care of it. I had the same flickering problem that a lot of you describe but I found that it wasn't turning off or shorting out, it was just the LED light was going bad so I ignored it. The other day I go to use it and I started to smell burning. Thankfully it wasn't my hair but instead the On/OFF switch literally melted into a pile of goo! I thought wow that stinks but I can at least return it for a repair or a replacement and now I find that NOPE not possible. Never buying a CHI again. My friend has a HOT TOOLS one that is awesome! Sorry CHI, sounds like your products and customer service STINK!! You should be ashamed.

I HATE THE CHI. I bought mine and not even 2 months later the light started going on and off. Now it won't come on at all. My $25 walmart straightner is better quality than the CHI!!!

I am 7 months past my warranty, nobody will believe that my shiny pink flattening iron broke down in less than a year by looking at it.
Can I have the device serviced? or replaced? I loved my limited edition pink CHI. It's such an expensive iron and it does not make sense for me to buy a new one. At the time I purchased this CHI, I had other recommendations for Avante and Babyliss but I choose this CHI in good faith. I am so disappointed that paying the premium price failed me so early! I have a $60 iron that I've been using for 4+ years!! This was the most expensive flat iron I've ever purchased it is the most short-lived. WILL NOT BUY AGAIN. WILL NOT RECOMMEND!!
