Warranty Information on CHI Flat Irons

All CHI Flat Irons and other CHI appliances are guaranteed to be free of defects and workmanship errors for one year from purchase.

If you are a consumer or a salon inquiring about returning or getting service on your CHI flat irons, please read carefully the following message, which should answer any question you may have. If you need additional information, please send an e-mail to chitools@farouk.com or call 1-800-237-9175 x 5171.

You can return your CHI flat iron at the place of purchase and they can exchange it for you, or you may send it back to use for replacement if:

  • You have your receipt and it was purchased less than one year ago. You may use a credit card statement or cancelled check if you do not have receipt.
  • It was not dropped or otherwise caused to stop working by user.
  • It was not purchased from eBay or other unauthorized Internet retailers.

Please include the following information with your iron:

  • A copy of your receipt (NOT THE ORIGINAL)
  • Check or money order for $15.00 to cover shipping and handling.
  • A note with your name, physical address you want your replacement sent to via FedEx or UPS and a daytime phone number. It is very important for your to put your phone number in the box so that we may contact you if there is any problem shipping your iron.

In order to track your shipment, we recommend using UPS, Fedex or registered mail.

Please allow 3-5 weeks for you to receive your replacement.

  • or, it was purchased from eBay or other unauthorized Internet retailers

You can contact Salon Art to have it repaired at the rate of $30.00.

My Chi BURST INTO FLAMES while I was straightening my hair yesterday! I have had it for a little over a year so it is not covered by warranty. Am I wrong believing my appliances should not cause harm to me and my home? Warranty or not I should get compensated for damages. I hope nobody else has to risk their safety with this product.

My mom and I have collectively owned FIVE CHI straightners. I recently had a defective one replaced and noticed that the "new" one does not close properly. How am I supposed to straigten my hair if it doesn't close! Enough is enough. I'm done. I have experienced many of the same problems as many of you have said, the plates melt off, just stops working and goes cold, won't heat up, etc. Believe me, after owning that many, we have seen it all... It's like there is a little chip in there that is telling it to stop working just after the 1 year warranty expires. We spend wayyy too much money on CHI products to have them constantly fail by a company that won't provide customer service and replace them.

I bought a Chi hair straightener for $130.00 and it broke in less then 2 years. I called Chi and they told me that there was nothing they could do for me, before I had a chi I had a $40.00 straightener that worked better then the Chi and lasted 4 years. Rediculous.

I bought my Chi in 2006 and it has worked faithfully until last night. When I say faithfully, I mean it. My cats even chewed the cord so it's been partially severed for 2 years and still ran like a champ. It sounds like the product quality has gone exceedingly downhill. Sad because I WAS looking forward to replacing it with another.

NOT IMPRESSED!!!!!! I JUST BOUGHT MY CHI IN JANUARY AND IT HAS ALREADY STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE NO RECEIPT AS I BOUGHT A SECOND ONE FOR MY FRIENDS DAUGHTER AND THEY HAVE THE RECEIPT AND CANT FIND IT. TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR THAT THEY CANT FIX IT WHEN THAT MUCH MONEY WAS SPENT.

I received the green camoflauge flat iron as a gift for my birthday in December of 2010. It has worked well until recently. My hair started becoming very brittle and fried. I also noticed my countertops are EXTREMELY hot where my flat iron sits. The elements are way too hot. Of course we cannot find the receipt. It looks like I will have to take my loss. My next purchase will definitely be the Paul Mitchell iron.

I have had my CHI for almost 5 years!!!!! And it just broke on me!! I heard they have a lifetime warranty. When I bought it they also told me that. I love my CHI and Im wanting to find out more info on getting it fixed or replaced!

I have had my CHI for about 3 years and 2 week after I bought it the black plug box broke apart. I took it back to where I bought it and they said I needed to contact CHI directly, needless to say, I never did this and just held it together with a hair tie (ghetto I know, but it still worked!) yesterday I went to use it and the cord came completely out of the plug box :( I was able to "do surgery" on it and reattach the wiring with electrical tape and it is once again working. I must say, for what I paid-I'm not impressed!!!

My boyfriend got me a chi for my birthday. That was in May. I got the purple zebra print one. When I first started using it I loved it. For a person with thick hair and long hair finding something to make it perfectly straight is hard. However back in June I had a hard time getting the lite on. After playing around for a while I finally got it to cut on. Then this past weekend I went to look at it and the plates had popped out. I was furious. My boyfriend has no reciet. SO what am I to do now...well I don't know cause I have never been through this. I know for sure I won't recomend you products to anyone and I will never buy another one of your products.

I am having the same problem ladies! I received my chi for a birthday gift about 2 and a half years ago. And I did love how it worked, and it lasted for a while! But just last week I went to straighten my hair, and nothing. It would not turn on, light up or anything!
