Features of Original CHI Ceramic Flat Iron:

  • Ceramic Heat and Negative Ions - ceramic plates and coils to maintain even temperature all the time, seal the cuticle, repel humidity, lock in hair color and retard fading. Ceramic heat will ensure the penetration of the silk molecules to the hair.
  • Ergonomically Designed - 10-ft heavy duty, 360 degree swivel electrical cord to prevent tangling. Lightweight, On/Off switch on the inside to prevent accidental turn off.
  • Power - Flash Heating 150-180 degrees in 6-10 seconds, squeeze sensitive = tighter squeeze will direct more ceramic heat to the hair, saves energy - CHI only uses 20-25 watts of electricity.
  • Versatile - For straight looks, flips, curls, dreadlocks, crimping and to prepare dry hair cuts.
  • Safe - Circuit breaker for safety, space age installation = heat is only produced to the ceramic plates, exterior will be only warm, not hot.

3.00 out of 5 stars AMAZING..wish it lasted
Reviewer: Lori from utah on Wed, May 7, 2008

Really, this is an amazing product. I haven't wanted to try anything else. I'm on my second CHI because there was a short in the cord on my first. It was nice becuase where I got it, they replaced it and I got a new one. 2 years later, the iron has gone out again. I just love this iron, but I hesitate to buy another -not knowing how long it will last

5.00 out of 5 stars Love it
Reviewer: Liv on Tue, May 6, 2008

There have been obvious controversial views on the CHI, but it's worked well for almost two years now. My sister and I both have one, and it's worked continually, straightening our wavy curls to a pin. I love my CHI.

1.00 out of 5 stars "Flat" broke in MI
Reviewer: Charlotte from Michigan on Mon, May 5, 2008

I'm done spending $129 on these "temporary" flat irons. I've purchased 2 in the last 3 years and both just stopped working. Pay to replace it with another "temporary" iron, NO THANKS! How about figuring out what the problem is and work on making a product that lasts! Both irons were WELL taken care of, by the way.

1.00 out of 5 stars The best Straightner out there
Reviewer: kayla smtih from NON OF YOUR BUISNESS on Wed, April 30, 2008

5.00 out of 5 stars Love my CHI
Reviewer: Ness from Ohio on Wed, April 30, 2008

I've had my CHI for 4-5 years and have had no problems and I've used it a ton. I've LOVED it. Only recently have the plates come off of the base and they are kind of hanging there by the wires. I'm sure they can be glued back on, but it may just be time for a new one. It's pretty old!

2.00 out of 5 stars CHI 2" Turbo
Reviewer: Denise from Michigan on Tue, April 29, 2008

This flat iron is the best I have every had, but it only worked for 6 months. One day it just stopped working (no light when I turned it on). Too large of an investment to work for such a short period of time.

5.00 out of 5 stars Electrical Problems??
Reviewer: Katie on Sun, April 27, 2008

For those who said they have only been able to use their CHI for as little as less than a year, i have to say you are probably not taking good enough care of the flat iron. I got my CHI well over a year ago, and I haven't had one problem with it. I never roll the cord around it, just like the directions tell you, and it works perfectly every time. I AM planning on getting the Turbo 2" next since I have a LOT of hair, but this straightener is amazing, just make sure you take good care of it.

5.00 out of 5 stars CHI Original
Reviewer: Stephanie from Canada on Thu, April 24, 2008

I'm so shocked by all these bad reviews. I have had my CHI for 5 years and it has always worked perfectly. I have curly hair, and use mine everyday (sometimes a few times a day) to retouch my curls and straighten my bangs. I cannot live without it. I bring it everywhere...It's like a security blanket. This is BY FAR the best beauty product I have ever owned. I get a lot of compliments on my hair, and many of my friends and family have now purchased their own CHI. Definitely work the $150 I paid in 2003.

1.00 out of 5 stars ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS!
Reviewer: Sofie on Tue, April 22, 2008

BAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I have had my CHI for maybe six months and it only flickers on and off now. Very, very, frustrating!

Reviewer: Ursula from California on Tue, April 22, 2008

Very sorry to find out that my Chi lasted less then a year. Electrical problems just like all the other comments.

2.00 out of 5 stars Nice to know I am not alone
Reviewer: Sas from Las Vegas on Mon, April 14, 2008

I thought I was the only one who had a problem with the electrical connection in the flatiron. In June, I will have had the chi for only two years and it is shutting on and off at its leisure, I can't even get 1/4 of my hair done before is loses it's power. VERY DISAPPOINTING TO PAY THE MONEY FOR A PRODUCT THAT WON'T EVEN LAST FOR TWO YEARS. THANKS MR. CHI......FOR NOTHING.

5.00 out of 5 stars my chi
Reviewer: ashley from Kentucky on Thu, April 10, 2008

I love my Chi! I am reading everyones reviews saying their breaks, well mine has broken a few times in 5 years but does no1 else realize they have lifetime warranties?!! all i do is take mine back to the salon i bought it at and i get a new one for free. it is amazing and by far better than any "walmart" straightener like someone else said. I wouldnt be able to live without my chi!!!

2.00 out of 5 stars Dissapointed with CHI
Reviewer: Aileen Cruz from Texas, USA on Sun, March 16, 2008

I bought my CHI in March 2006 and now in March 2008 it broke. I have used it according to instructions, never abused it or dropped it. I use it once a week. All of a sudden when I turned it on the switch broke. After spending $130 for my CHI it was expecting a better quality product that will last me for many years to come. My husband tried to fix it but it will not turn back on. Come on! Is this company trying to fool us as consumers? No way I am going to buy another CHI, I am going to purchase another brand.

2.00 out of 5 stars Chi should replace their expensive irons when they have electrical problems!
Reviewer: Alisha Dale from houston area on Wed, March 5, 2008

My Chi is not very old, nor has it been abused or over used. The twisting of the electrical cord has made it spark and go out. I think it should be replaced for free. I love using it and would continue to support and pass the replacement information on to all my friends about how well chi backs up its products. Im still looking for someplace to send it to be repaired, but no luck yet!

I have had a chi for a couple of years. I have no problems with mine and I really like it. I have not found anything that is so easy on my hair and straightens on the first try.

5.00 out of 5 stars Too many people with the same complaint
Reviewer: Melody on Fri, October 26, 2007

I have talked to a number of hairdressers and a number of Chi owners and I am hearing the same thing, the cord goes faulty. Why are we having to pay for our second Chi to be fixed when it is clearly a defect. Has anyone turned this company over to the BBB? I will be checking into this because I don't see why I should pay 150$ for a product that doesn't last; then turn around and pay to have it fixed.

3.00 out of 5 stars Not bad so far
Reviewer: Melanie on Fri, October 12, 2007

I got the chi iron in june or july of 2007. It's now october. I've read the other reviews of people's irons that have caught in fire, stopped working, or destroyed their natural hair. Now I'm a bit scared to use my iron. Reassurance please?

1.00 out of 5 stars CUAGHT ON FIRE
Reviewer: Ginger Bennett from Georgia on Wed, October 10, 2007

I have had my Chi for about 4 months and it caught on fire when I turned it on. I am extremely disappointed that I paid $150.00 for a flat iron that is no better than a Wal-Mart flat iron. Not only have I NOT had a flat iron for the past week but they also want to charge me extra to fix it. Very Disappointing.
