I have been straightening my hair for years and the Chi is the best flat iron I've found. It's amazing. However, it doesn't last long! My first one died after about a year and I figured it was just bad luck so I bought another one. I've had the second one for about 8 months and it just broke too! I would not reccomend buying a Chi if you want a long-lasting flat iron. i got the chi for christmas and was like wow this is so good. i heard from another salon they break really easily. it has been 5 months and the light keeps flashing on and off. the power wont stay on! i dont recomened buying the chi but you could get lucky! My hair depends on the Chi! I bought one back in 2005 and it was stolen (it wasn't working too well anyway - would turn off every min or so), so I got another that Christmas. 17 months later, here I am with frizzy hair because IT WON'T TURN ON! What's up with that?! I paid $137.50 for it just so it won't turn on anymore. It was fine yesterday. I LOVE this thing, but it doesn't last long. I'm a little dissapointed, as I expected (for that price) the Chi to last longer than it did (both times) the CHI is the best flat iron ive ever used. i've had mine for three or four years but now it wont turn on. three or four years is pretty good though to get out of a flat iron. it works wonderfully. i just paid 80 dollars for a cricket and its terrible. i think the CHI is definetly worth the little extra money. My hair stylist used this on me and I was so amazed that it got my naturally curly hair so straight. I was hesitant to spend over a 100 dollars for a flat iron but finally gave in and bought one from Ulta. It has been the best 100 dollars I have spent. All my friends want me to do their hair for special occasions, etc... I have had my chi for about a year and will plan to buy another when the time comes. I clean the plates with a cotton ball with a little rubbing alcohol to get any product off and it cleans up beautifully. I really want one of the "colorful" ones next. After 4 years of great performance my Chi is still working perfectly. The only product which makes my frizzy and coarse hair straight and shiny. I had my chi flat iron for 3 years. In those years i had to replace the chi iron 2 times. The first time the plate fell out, and the second was a shortage. To make the iron work I have to squeeze it hard for it to turn on. i do not deny that the chi works, or i wouldn't have bout another one. I just hate that I have had SO many problems with the chi iron that cost SO much. All of you who were happy with your chi for only the first few months you had it--I know how you feel! Mine lasted less than a year before it wouldn't come on anymore. And...this is the second one I've had trouble with. After my first one stopped working, I called the salon where I'd purchased it. The girl there told me to be sure not to wrap the cord around the chi when storing it because that would damage the wiring inside. So, my mom bought another one and I was careful to keep the cord straight. But guess what? It didn't matter! After less than a year, it quit working. I'm sick of them and wouldn't advise anyone to waste their money on one. when this flat iron was used on my hair at the salon....i loved the results so much i just had to have one at home. the lady highly recommended it. so i bought one,and she told me it was under warrenty for 1 year,so i could bring it back to the salon and they can send it in if any problems....i loved it while it worked......better results than i got from all the cheaper ones i have at home. anyway....after the first couple of months......the hinge was too loose, wouldnt grip my hair securely or tight enough to flatten properly......so i called her up and she told me to bring it in and she could send it in to get the hinge repaired. so i did...no problem....of ocurse she had to use my recipt when sending it.
I'm very confused about this flat iron....the lady at ULTA that sold me the CHI said it would last up to ten years, and if it broke within the first year, they would replace it, and if it broke within the next 10 years, the company would fix it for free. Well, I spent about 200 dollars on this, and I'm confused that it's getting bad reviews and talking about horrible costomer service. I had an older cheaper porcillin iron and I feel like it does the same thing as the CHI, same affect, infact I don't like the way it really feels. My hair gets caught on it easaly and it pulls it out.. Was this producut a waste of money? I really wish I had read the reviews before buying my Chi just over a year ago! I think my power cord is shorting out like others have reported. It worked fine yesterday...and then today...nothing. I bought it on March 6, 2006, so I guess I'm screwed as far as the warranty goes. When I paid $100 for it, I was expecting to get many years of use out of it. I am very disappointed. I used to highly recommend it to everyone I knew...I won't be doing that anymore...especially after reading that others have had issues with their Chi 1 year after buying it. I got my Chi (the original) almost exactly 2 years ago, and it has just stopped working. I noticed a couple months ago that the light would flash on and off and I would have to wait longer for the tiles to heat up. And today it just completely gave out. The light flashes when I plug it in, and then that's it. It won't heat up even a little bit. Although it does a great job on my hair (when it actually works), I'm disappointed in this product. From reading other reviews, I don't think it will be worth it to buy a new one since I'll just have to replace it again next year. I guess I'll just have to be wavy and frizzy until I find something better. I just bought the new 'original' CHI in RED! It is truly the best investment I've made for a flat iron. I love the way I can straighten my hair and it stays for days afterward. I don't have to keep redoing it!
I have never had any problems with my CHI and I have had it for over 4 years now! I think it was a good investment. I use it just about every day and love it! I know several people who have the same one and they haven't had any problems with it either, so for the one post who says it doesn't last long, maybe it was just her iron that was defective???? I'm a cosmetology student and I purchased this flat iron for personal use about 5 months ago. I love it and I've gotten about 5 or 6 friends to purchase it as well. I went to use the flat iron today and it just won't turn on. I've read many reviews that state that the iron only lasts about a year, but mine didn't even make it half that long! Do not buy if you are not willing to replace it quickly! I bought my Chi from Ulta for $130 about 3 years ago. It is the only thing that has worked on my frizzy and hard to manage hair. It cuts my getting ready time in half! It started going out yesterday mid-hair and now I'm trying to figure out about the warranty. Is this a 1 year or a lifetime warranty? Hopefully lifetime so I can replace it without having to purchase another. $130 for 3 years use is pretty good though! This is the best flat iron ever! I have hair almost down to my bum, it straightens quick, makes my hiar soft and shiney, heats up quick. I'm a hair stylst and I reccomend this product! 10 out of 10! The chi iron is god's gift to curly hair. It is by far the best straightner I've ever had. I am a hairdresser and honestly the CHI is my favorite tool. I can't imagine styling without it! I read the post about the "lifetime warranty" givin by the salons....just to let you know that warranty is givin by CHI, not the salons. Meaning you can buy your CHI from anywhere, and as long as it is an original iron, the company will replace it if anything happens (with limitations) but you have to cover shipping :) I just bought my Chi flat iron. I've been using just the cheap flat irons you buy at WalMart, but I could tell the difference in the first strand. I Love it! Normaly when I would straighten my hair and it was the least bet humid outside my hair would go right back wavy but not no more. Thanks Chi |
