2.00 out of 5 stars Great While it Lasts
Reviewer: Lauren from Los Angeles on Tue, June 5, 2007

I have been straightening my hair for years and the Chi is the best flat iron I've found. It's amazing. However, it doesn't last long! My first one died after about a year and I figured it was just bad luck so I bought another one. I've had the second one for about 8 months and it just broke too! I would not reccomend buying a Chi if you want a long-lasting flat iron.

Reviewer: Sara from Texas on Tue, May 22, 2007

My hair depends on the Chi! I bought one back in 2005 and it was stolen (it wasn't working too well anyway - would turn off every min or so), so I got another that Christmas. 17 months later, here I am with frizzy hair because IT WON'T TURN ON! What's up with that?! I paid $137.50 for it just so it won't turn on anymore. It was fine yesterday. I LOVE this thing, but it doesn't last long. I'm a little dissapointed, as I expected (for that price) the Chi to last longer than it did (both times)

the CHI is the best flat iron ive ever used. i've had mine for three or four years but now it wont turn on. three or four years is pretty good though to get out of a flat iron. it works wonderfully. i just paid 80 dollars for a cricket and its terrible. i think the CHI is definetly worth the little extra money.

5.00 out of 5 stars The Best
Reviewer: shawna on Fri, April 27, 2007

My hair stylist used this on me and I was so amazed that it got my naturally curly hair so straight. I was hesitant to spend over a 100 dollars for a flat iron but finally gave in and bought one from Ulta. It has been the best 100 dollars I have spent. All my friends want me to do their hair for special occasions, etc... I have had my chi for about a year and will plan to buy another when the time comes. I clean the plates with a cotton ball with a little rubbing alcohol to get any product off and it cleans up beautifully. I really want one of the "colorful" ones next.

After 4 years of great performance my Chi is still working perfectly. The only product which makes my frizzy and coarse hair straight and shiny.

2.00 out of 5 stars chi iron
Reviewer: jennifer from Louisiana on Tue, April 24, 2007

I had my chi flat iron for 3 years. In those years i had to replace the chi iron 2 times. The first time the plate fell out, and the second was a shortage. To make the iron work I have to squeeze it hard for it to turn on. i do not deny that the chi works, or i wouldn't have bout another one. I just hate that I have had SO many problems with the chi iron that cost SO much.

2.00 out of 5 stars Good while it lasted!
Reviewer: Emily from Arkansas on Mon, April 16, 2007

All of you who were happy with your chi for only the first few months you had it--I know how you feel! Mine lasted less than a year before it wouldn't come on anymore. And...this is the second one I've had trouble with. After my first one stopped working, I called the salon where I'd purchased it. The girl there told me to be sure not to wrap the cord around the chi when storing it because that would damage the wiring inside. So, my mom bought another one and I was careful to keep the cord straight. But guess what? It didn't matter! After less than a year, it quit working. I'm sick of them and wouldn't advise anyone to waste their money on one.

1.00 out of 5 stars stopped working after 9 months!!!!!!!!
Reviewer: angie from tennessee on Fri, April 13, 2007

when this flat iron was used on my hair at the salon....i loved the results so much i just had to have one at home. the lady highly recommended it. so i bought one,and she told me it was under warrenty for 1 year,so i could bring it back to the salon and they can send it in if any problems....i loved it while it worked......better results than i got from all the cheaper ones i have at home. anyway....after the first couple of months......the hinge was too loose, wouldnt grip my hair securely or tight enough to flatten properly......so i called her up and she told me to bring it in and she could send it in to get the hinge repaired. so i did...no problem....of ocurse she had to use my recipt when sending it.
well.....7 months later.....only 9 months into owning it......it just desides its not even gonna come on anymore......WONT EVEN COME ON ANYMORE!

so i take it back to the salon where i bought it....CUZ IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRENTY........and she said she couldnt help me....she said that she already sent it in once,so that was it for the warrenty.....wut the hell.that makes no sense....i got the hinge fixed.....but now it doesnt come on anymore and now she's telling me she cant do anything.......she told me i could send it in to the main company with my recipt and they will either try to repair it or replace it for a 30.00 fee........BUT OF COURSE I DONT HAVE MY RECIPT ANYMORE CUZ SHE KEPT IT FROM LAST TIME AND WOULDNT GIVE ME ANOTHER ONE.
then she offered to sale me another one.....and then she said that they cost more now than they did when i bought that one....oh wutever.......this site i'm posting on right now is selliong them for nearly 75.00 less than for wut i paid for mine 9 months ago..
seems pretty clear this salon are ripping me off.
and even calling the chi company......they wont help me either....just said they could give me the address to their repair guys and i can send it in for repairs but without my original recipt i have to pay for the repairs. i explained to her the whole situation.....she just kept repeating herself like she was reading from a representative manual.....freaking robot customer service reps annoy me so much.

so now......not only am i stuck with a 160.00 flat iron that doesnt work......but my daughter is flipping out cuz she was hooked on that thing....it was like her favorite tool and most important......and now she has her prom coming up...i spent so much on her dress and stuff.....i cant afford another chi now. so now i gotta pay someone to flat iron her hair for the prom.

i'm so upset i cant express myself here without being editied........but i'm sure u can imagine what i would like to be saying right now about that salon and chi customer service and lowsy product quality and how they RIP PEOPLE OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

3.00 out of 5 stars Ehh??
Reviewer: Millie from NYC on Fri, April 6, 2007

I'm very confused about this flat iron....the lady at ULTA that sold me the CHI said it would last up to ten years, and if it broke within the first year, they would replace it, and if it broke within the next 10 years, the company would fix it for free. Well, I spent about 200 dollars on this, and I'm confused that it's getting bad reviews and talking about horrible costomer service. I had an older cheaper porcillin iron and I feel like it does the same thing as the CHI, same affect, infact I don't like the way it really feels. My hair gets caught on it easaly and it pulls it out.. Was this producut a waste of money?

2.00 out of 5 stars Happy with my Chi...up until today
Reviewer: Tracey on Thu, April 5, 2007

I really wish I had read the reviews before buying my Chi just over a year ago! I think my power cord is shorting out like others have reported. It worked fine yesterday...and then today...nothing. I bought it on March 6, 2006, so I guess I'm screwed as far as the warranty goes. When I paid $100 for it, I was expecting to get many years of use out of it. I am very disappointed. I used to highly recommend it to everyone I knew...I won't be doing that anymore...especially after reading that others have had issues with their Chi 1 year after buying it.

3.00 out of 5 stars So long, Chi
Reviewer: Stephanie from Texas on Fri, March 30, 2007

I got my Chi (the original) almost exactly 2 years ago, and it has just stopped working. I noticed a couple months ago that the light would flash on and off and I would have to wait longer for the tiles to heat up. And today it just completely gave out. The light flashes when I plug it in, and then that's it. It won't heat up even a little bit. Although it does a great job on my hair (when it actually works), I'm disappointed in this product. From reading other reviews, I don't think it will be worth it to buy a new one since I'll just have to replace it again next year. I guess I'll just have to be wavy and frizzy until I find something better.

5.00 out of 5 stars Love the Red CHI!
Reviewer: Liz Shultz on Mon, March 26, 2007

I just bought the new 'original' CHI in RED! It is truly the best investment I've made for a flat iron. I love the way I can straighten my hair and it stays for days afterward. I don't have to keep redoing it!

We went away over the weekend and I accidentally dropped it on ceramic tile!! I almost flipped out thinking I had broken it - but it's just fine so I have to add that it's stronger than you think, not that I'd make a habit of flinging it around.

Worth the money.

5.00 out of 5 stars I love my CHI iron!
Reviewer: JESSICA BEAUCHAMP from Florida on Tue, February 27, 2007

I have never had any problems with my CHI and I have had it for over 4 years now! I think it was a good investment. I use it just about every day and love it! I know several people who have the same one and they haven't had any problems with it either, so for the one post who says it doesn't last long, maybe it was just her iron that was defective????

4.00 out of 5 stars Great product...no longevity!
Reviewer: Melissa from Spokane, WA on Thu, January 25, 2007

I'm a cosmetology student and I purchased this flat iron for personal use about 5 months ago. I love it and I've gotten about 5 or 6 friends to purchase it as well. I went to use the flat iron today and it just won't turn on. I've read many reviews that state that the iron only lasts about a year, but mine didn't even make it half that long! Do not buy if you are not willing to replace it quickly!

5.00 out of 5 stars Went strong for 3 years
Reviewer: Amanda from Texas on Wed, January 24, 2007

I bought my Chi from Ulta for $130 about 3 years ago. It is the only thing that has worked on my frizzy and hard to manage hair. It cuts my getting ready time in half! It started going out yesterday mid-hair and now I'm trying to figure out about the warranty. Is this a 1 year or a lifetime warranty? Hopefully lifetime so I can replace it without having to purchase another. $130 for 3 years use is pretty good though!

5.00 out of 5 stars Best Flat Iron Ever!

The chi iron is god's gift to curly hair. It is by far the best straightner I've ever had.

5.00 out of 5 stars great product
Reviewer: CL on Fri, December 8, 2006

I am a hairdresser and honestly the CHI is my favorite tool. I can't imagine styling without it! I read the post about the "lifetime warranty" givin by the salons....just to let you know that warranty is givin by CHI, not the salons. Meaning you can buy your CHI from anywhere, and as long as it is an original iron, the company will replace it if anything happens (with limitations) but you have to cover shipping :)

5.00 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!
Reviewer: Sydney Raborn from Little Rock ,Arkansas on Mon, November 13, 2006

I just bought my Chi flat iron. I've been using just the cheap flat irons you buy at WalMart, but I could tell the difference in the first strand. I Love it! Normaly when I would straighten my hair and it was the least bet humid outside my hair would go right back wavy but not no more. Thanks Chi
