 Loved it for 4 years until today...I have extremely curly hair and this thing has been a blessing for me. Nothing else has ever worked this well. BUT, today as I was straightening my hair, my Chi CAUGHT ON FIRE!!! (While it was in my hair!) I was lucky my hair didn't catch on fire. Thank goodness I didn't have any flammable product in my hair at the time. I love it so much, but I'm scared to buy another one. =o(  What Salon in AZ?Hey Kim, what is the name of the salon? My friend has this straightener and I love it. I want to get it, but after reading these reviews I think it'd be better to just buy it at the salon.  CHI DEALThe salon that I go to in Arizona charges $200.00 for the CHI flat iron, but they have a lifetime guarantee. If it ever breaks, they will replace it no matter what. After reading these reviews about the irons falling out, I'm definitly going to buy one from my salon now. They are located at Scottsdale & Shea Blvd. Awesome even for thick hair!I live where it is very humid and my hair is often frizzy. One of my friends was having a party and one girl brought her CHI. She used it on my hair and it did not take as long as a normal flat iron! My thick, wavy hair was now beautiful and frizz free! All of my friends loved my hair! Now I am going to buy one! Also, I didn't even have to use hair spray and my hair was perfect for 2 days!!  Original CHI flat ironI loved this product when I first bought it from the spa ($150). However, after a year one of the plates fell off. I liked the product so much I used it until it completely quit working. I wrote to the company and called them. They are not even willing to assist you. They obviously get a lot of calls.
worked well until the ceramic fell offwell i loved the chi, until the ceramic part fell off, could not return it where i bought it from, and the company gave me a very hard time, wont even give me a discount if i bought another one. Well i guess ill just have to try their competetors product. Excellent Quality Item!!!My best friend jessie has really thick long hair. She had a spiral perm which she greatly regrets now. This is an excellent quality item which was absolutely fabulous straightening her hair. Don't go spend $40 or $50 on junk, this unit is made of true quality and made to out last all those others.  Horrible after 6 months of use!I bought this straightner @ Ulta for $150.00. A person would think that when paying this kind of money it would work. Or, if not, they would exchange the item for you. No, that did not happen. The flat iron started shorting out and Ulta would not exchange it so I contacted CHI customer service. They too gave me the run around. Even to get it fixed I would have to pay! This is NOT worth the money or the hassle. Horrible customer service!!!! I love my CHII love my CHI, and though I've read about problems with the power cord and the iron shorting out, I've never had any problems with mine (it's two years old). However, my cat knocked my CHI off of the vanity, and now one of the plates had popped out. While it still heats perfectly fine, it falls out while I'm using it and my hair snags on the corner. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? Is it safe to superglue it back onto the frame? Natural hair! Cut my time in half!I am an african american woman who went natural/perm free a few years ago. I went through shampooing, blow drying, stove straightening then curling. The whole process was very time consuming. I on business and stopped in Boston to visit my sister. I needed to wash my hair. I told her everything I needed to do so she offered my her flat iron, telling me it would get my hair straight. I didn't believe her but I thought I would try it. It really did!!! This product has cut my time in half! It's a miracle hair iron!It was MIRACLE. My hair becomes silky straight and shiny. NO FRIZZ WHATSOEVER. I get complimented all the time about my hair. My hair is so shiny, straight and silky that it sometimes looks fake. Pleased and DisappointedWhen I purchased this product, I was thoroughly pleased with it. It does exactly what it says. However, after a year of using (without any abuse) the Chi, it continues to shorten out. I'm disappointed that I only got 1 year of service out of it. Disappointed in TexasGreat for a year but then the warranty runs out and so does the product. There was no abuse to the iron yet almost exactly one year later it ceases to work. Thats a lot of money for one year of use. Love this flat iron!This is the best flat iron I have ever used. Used my best friends and had the straightest, silkiest hair I've ever had. My hair is pretty fine, but it is layered and always looks horrible. I have one of those 20 dollar conair ones and i thought that did the job. This straightner took literally 1 minute and my hair looked the best i have ever seen it in my life. My friend has the curliest, frisiest hair i have ever seen and hers gets perfectly staright from this!
